Editing your dog sitter profile

December 8, 2023

For dog sitters, there are two types of edits on doggos.com, "live edits", which go live and appear in search results instantly, and "reviewed edits", which are reviewed by a combination of software and real people, and take additional time to appear in search results.

We created this system so that we could protect everyone on our platform from shady account activity. Although doggos.com has no policy against changing any information on your profile, we moderate the edits we publish in search results so that we don't have accounts constantly switching usernames, addresses, or other fields in attempt to game the system and appear artificially higher in search results than other businesses.

How to edit your profile

To start editing, simply navigate to your page on doggos.com by clicking "View profile". If you're logged in, you'll see an "Edit profile" link, which you can click to open the editing pane.

The editing pane allows you to set the types and amounts of dogs you want to provide sitting services for, as well as other criteria such as how much exercise you provide, your schedule or routine, the types of food and medication you can provide, etc.

The more details you provide, the more likely you are to get matched with dog owners who are ideal clients for you. This is because your profile information is used to rank you in search results, and match you with search criteria that dog owners may be looking for.

Warning!

Selecting every option will not improve your rank in search results. We use a "tie-breaker" algorithm, meaning profiles that match every search filter (instead of the most relevant services) may appear lower on the page.

Why does it say my changes are "Pending review?"

Certain changes to your profile details will trigger our secondary review system, such as:

  • Headline changes
  • Featured image changes
  • Phone number changes
  • Email address changes
  • Profile icon changes
  • Owner name changes

We review these changes before publishing them to protect our community. Sometimes, this process is completely automated and will finish in 5-15 minutes, other times, a doggos.com team member may need to reach out to you directly to verify the changes.

If you feel your updates are taking too long to be reviewed, you can always contact us through the doggos chat by messaging @doggos.

I'd like to update my prices. When will those changes go live?

Immediately.

Price changes are published as soon as you change them, via a separate system that does not undergo review. Any changes you make to your prices are published instantly.

For example, if you decide you'd like to update your nightly rate from $55 to $65 per night, that new price will be reflected live on your profile and in search results as soon as you hit "Save" (regardless of any other reviews you may have pending.)

I'd like to update my dates. When will those changes go live?

Immediately.

Availability changes are published as soon as you change them, via a separate system that does not undergo review. Any changes you make to your calendar availability are published instantly.

For example, if you decide you're not available on Saturday's, those changes will be reflected live on your profile as soon as you hit "Save" (regardless of any other reviews you may have pending.)

We are constantly updating doggos.com to have more robust security and spam controls and we welcome feedback, questions, or concerns anytime!
